MY FIRST VIDEO GAME WITH SCRATCH – ONLINE – 6 AND 7 YEARS OLD

COURSE 100% SUBSIDISED BY VERISK

DURATION: 12.5 hours. 5 classes of two and a half hours.
DATES: 25 – 29 JULY, 10:30am-1:00pm (London time)
AGE: 6 to 7 years old accompanied by an adult.

A Scratch course for the little ones at home in which they will be introduced to programming and will work on their creativity and imagination. They will develop video games in a visual way, using drag and drop blocks. A fun way of learning and getting into computational thinking while they enjoy themselves and have fun.

They will create an animated story with characters, animations, backgrounds and dialogues. They will learn the basics of a narrative story and what is necessary for characters to interact with each other. What are you waiting for, come and take part in our challenge!

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
PC with Windows or Mac. Tablet or SmartPhone cannot be used.
Internet: Wired or WI-FI.
To follow the class you will need a mouse, headphones and microphone, and optionally, also a webcam so that the teacher can see you.

BEFORE YOU START:

STEP 1: It is necessary to have an email account, preferably GMAIL.

STEP 2: If you already have an email account, create your SCRATCH 3.0 user:
Go to https://scratch.mit.edu/, click on Join Scratch (on the top left) and fill in the form with your details.

  • Create a Scratch project from scratch.
  • Handle programming concepts.
  • Get to know the Scratch interface and elements.
  • Introduce scenarios and characters.
  • Use text, movement, control and appearance blocks.
  • Generate multiple drawings and shapes for the video game.
  • Program the activation and stopping of the game with different alternatives.
